Hours of Worship

Regular Sunday Worship Services 
Early Service, 8:30 a.m. 
Sunday School/Adult Education, 9:45 a.m. 
Late Morning Service, 11:00 a.m. 

Our 8:30 worship service is based on the settings in This Far By Faith and is a more traditional service. The 11:00 worship service combines the Lutheran liturgy with elements of the gospel, spiritual, and jazz traditions to provide an innovative, multicultural worship experience.

Both services draw on both the European and the African-American musical traditions, using hymns from the Lutheran Book of Worship and This Far By Faith.

Holy Communion is offered at both services each week.

Sunday Education Hour

Adult Education Hour, Fall/Winter 2002

  • September: The Basics of our Faith
  • October: Good Stewardship 'Taking Care of our Bodies with the Food We Eat'
    Instructor: Mishael Hinton, Registered Dietition
  • November: Coping with Loss 'A Christian Perspective'
    Instructors: Pastor Eaddy, Delores Ferguson, Lynda Price, and Christine Schlichting
  • December: Worshiping with Song
    Instructor: Christine Schlichting

Sunday School

We celebrate 'Life Together' every Sunday morning. This is a curriculum that follows the lectionary readings, allowing Sunday schools to closely relate to the weekly and daily Worship and devotional experience.

Four class levels:

  • Preschool
  • Elementary - grades 1-5
  • Middle school - grades 6-8
  • High school - grades 9-12

Extra activities have and will include: a trip to the Academy of Natural Sciences on October 5, hayride on November 9, participation in Advent Family Night December 6, Movies and Pizza at the Church on January 11, 2003, bowling in February, and more. Good attendance must be maintained to attend events.
